Local CDL-A Dedicated Grocery Driver – West Haven, CT

Depot & Route Logistics

• Location & Commute: Operating right out of our West Haven yard hub (you'll need your own reliable ride to and from the facility every day).
• Freight & Radius: Local grocery deliveries looping through NY, NJ, CT, and PA within a 250-mile circle, starting and finishing right back at the yard after every single shift.
• Tractor & Trailer Equipment: Slip-seat day cabs (both automatic and manual) pulling 48-to-53-foot reefers. Most loads are no-touch fresh and frozen goods. Just note that NYC runs make up about 20% to 25% of the work and require 6+ months on the account plus certified trainer approval.

Compensation & Financial Structure

• Guaranteed Minimum: $1,634 minimum weekly paycheck (as long as you complete your 5 workdays and log at least 10 hours weekly).
• Yearly Potential: Estimated starting gross of $100,374 annually, scaling higher based on tenure.
• Mileage & Extras: Base mileage runs $0.68 to $0.74 CPM, stacked with $28.50–$30 stop pay, $62.50 per NYC drop, $50 per terminal truck move, $15/hr detention pay, and $280 daily holiday pay. Safety training and orientation pay $200 a day ($20/hr).

Shift Schedules & Rest Periods

• Home Routine: Daily resets so you're sleeping in your own bed after every shift.
• Work Cycle: Steady 5-day schedules running either Thursday through Monday or Friday through Tuesday.
• Dispatch Windows: Daytime starts kicking off between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
• Surge Requirements: Mandatory 6th shifts twice a month, plus mandatory 6th shifts around all six major holidays.

Screening & Operator Standards

• Experience Baseline: At least 9 months of verifiable Class-A tractor-trailer seat time.
• Toxicology Protocols: Strict pre-employment testing requiring clean results on both hair follicle and urine drug screenings.
